Treloar’s is a leading charity supporting physically disabled children and young people to live as independently as possible — and we’re looking for Intern Student Support Assistants to join us from September 2026 to July 2027.
This is a brilliant opportunity to gain practical experience in an educational and residential setting, working directly with students across our School, College, and residential services in Alton, Hampshire. You’ll be supported by experienced professionals and work as part of a friendly, multi-disciplinary team — ideal if you’re exploring a future career in health, education, therapy, psychology, or care.
Whether you’ve recently finished college or university, are taking a gap year, or want practical experience alongside further study, this role offers meaningful work where no two days are the same.
What you will need to succeed:
- GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above (or equivalent)
- A positive, team-focused approach and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Confidence following clear procedures in time-sensitive environments
- Availability to commit to one of the following shift patterns: 8.00am–4.00pm, 8.30am–4.30pm or 9.00am–5.00pm
You don’t need previous experience in care — we’re looking for people with the right attitude and a genuine interest in supporting young people.
What you’ll be doing:
- You’ll support students both in and out of the classroom, helping them to access learning, therapy, and daily activities.
- Preparing lesson materials and tidying up after sessions
- Supporting students to use a range of computer equipment
- Assisting with therapy programmes
- Working closely with teachers and tutors to maintain accurate records of student progress
- Helping to implement individual care plans
- Supporting students with daily living activities, including washing, dressing, bathing, showering and post-toileting hygiene
- Assisting with nutritional needs, including serving meals, feeding, and preparing drinks, meals and snacks
- Upholding Treloar Trust’s commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing at all times
