Job Overview

As an Area Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple petrol station locations (approximately 15–23) within a designated area. You will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, maximising performance, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Your leadership will be key in achieving business objectives, fostering a positive team culture, and enhancing the customer experience.

The Role

  • As Area Manager, you will:
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of assigned petrol stations, ensuring adherence to company standards, health & safety regulations, and statutory compliance.
  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards by implementing training programs, safety protocols, and regular drills.
  • Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs), sales trends, and operational metrics to identify improvement areas and drive business growth.
  • Lead, recruit, train, and develop contract managers and their teams, providing ongoing coaching, performance evaluations, and support.
  • Promote a customer‑centric culture, ensuring exceptional service delivery and efficient resolution of customer needs.
  • Manage budgets and financial performance across locations, implementing cost‑control measures while maximising profitability.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams to execute effective merchandising strategies and promotional campaigns to boost sales.
  • Oversee inventory management and supply chain operations to ensure optimal stock levels and minimise wastage.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local stakeholders, suppliers, and communities to enhance brand presence and engagement.
  • Ensure effective communication of operational issues, faults, and resolutions to management, while updating contract managers on timelines and lead times.

About You

  • Proven experience in a retail management role, preferably within the petrol or convenience sector.
  • Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Excellent analytical skills with experience in driving performance through data analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • A high level of independence and initiative.
  • An ability to identify new trends that could improve operational business performance.
  • Proficient in budget management and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel across assigned locations.
