We’re recruiting for a Building Engineer to join a well-established facilities team at HMP Ranby, working within a secure prison environment. This role offers a stable, long-term opportunity with structured working hours, additional weekend allowance and excellent development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the site.
  • Completing statutory compliance checks and inspections.
  • Maintaining fire safety equipment including extinguishers, hydrants and hoses.
  • Testing emergency lighting, RCDs and smoke vents.
  • Inspecting and maintaining fire doors.
  • Completing water temperature testing and flushing in line with risk assessments.
  • Supporting maintenance of security systems including CCTV and alarms.
  • Recording completed works and remedial tasks using CAFM systems.
  • Carrying out general building maintenance tasks as required.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience working in a multi-skilled maintenance or facilities environment.
  • Knowledge of fire safety systems, emergency lighting or compliance testing.
  • Experience with general building maintenance tasks.
  • Understanding of water hygiene checks and temperature testing (desirable).
  • Experience working with maintenance management systems (CAFM).
  • Good IT skills and the ability to complete accurate records.
  • The ability to pass prison security clearance checks.
