Temporary (Approx 8 weeks) £14.07 per hour 36 hours per week

Main Purpose

To form part of a trained team of frontline staff who will provide fitness assessment and advice to individual users. To deliver a high-quality service in a professional manner in accordance with Leisure Services policies and procedures, including a nationally accredited quality scheme.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • To undertake fitness assessments and induction sessions for individual users.
  • To devise suitable and safe training programmes, maintain appropriate records and provide evaluation and feedback.
  • To carry out regular safety inspections of all fitness equipment and check environmental conditions.
  • To act as lifeguard, ensuring the safety of all pool users in accordance with agreed Codes of Practice.
  • To check environmental conditions throughout the building with particular emphasis on fitness suite and initiate response maintenance as required.
  • To deliver a high quality customer service in line with the agreed Customer Charter, through interacting with customers, including membership enquiries and dealing with all queries and problems in accordance with council procedures.
  • To administer first aid in compliance with accident procedures.
  • To record and report accidents, and take preventative action when required.
  • To maintain an up to date awareness of matters relating to leisure facilities.
  • To undertake attendant duties, including the erection and dismantling of equipment, and the safe storage and maintenance of same.
  • To carry out cleaning duties to ensure agreed high standards of hygiene and housekeeping are maintained.
  • To ensure the safe use and storage of all cleaning machinery and chemicals as per health and safety legislation.
  • To cover in the absence of designated key holders when required.
  • To act as senior person on site at satellite leisure facilities.
  • To ensure that corporate policies and procedures are adhered to at all times including induction and training of new staff/work placements as required.
  • To contribute to Departmental working groups as required.
  • To assist with the implementation of the Councils Emergency Plan when required.

Essential Criteria:

  • Level 2 Gym/Fitness Instructor Qualification (or equivalent recognised fitness qualification).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain First Aid certification.
  • GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent) may have been required depending on grade.

Experience

  • Experience working in a gym, leisure centre, sports facility, or customer service environment.
  • Experience providing advice and support to customers.
  • Experience supervising the safe use of fitness equipment.
  • Experience dealing with customer enquiries and maintaining high standards of customer care.

Applicants must be authorised to work in the UK and Ireland. We are unable to sponsor or take over the sponsorship of an employment visa at this time. Successful candidates may need to apply for an Access NI Certificate with Platinum Recruitment NI Ltd regardless if you already have a valid certificate. It will be a cost of between £16 - £32 depending on clearance level.
