Corporate Engagement Officer (Band 6)

£19.78 per hour

Main Purpose

  • The Corporate Engagement Officer will play a key role in supporting the delivery of the Strategic Planning and Performance Group's (SPPG) internal and external corporate engagement and communications activities.
  • The postholder will work closely with the Senior Communications Officer to develop, coordinate, and publish content across SPPG communication channels, including the intranet, internet, newsletters, digital platforms, and corporate publications.
  • The role will support the promotion of organisational priorities, staff engagement, corporate campaigns, service improvement programmes, and stakeholder communications.
  • The postholder will be responsible for maintaining and updating SPPG intranet and internet content, ensuring information remains accurate, accessible and compliant with corporate governance, accessibility, and branding standards.
  • The role will also provide support for corporate events, staff engagement activities, consultations, campaigns, and stakeholder communications.

Main Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, development and delivery of internal and external communication activities.
  • Draft, edit and publish high-quality written content for a variety of communication channels.
  • Support the production of newsletters, e-zines, staff bulletins, briefing papers, presentations and promotional materials.
  • Ensure communications are clear, accurate, engaging and aligned to corporate objectives.
  • Assist with the preparation of content for senior leadership messages, events and engagement activities.
  • Research and gather information from stakeholders to support communication campaigns and corporate initiatives.
  • To support innovation problem solving and systems development opportunities and performance management functions.
  • Monitor the website traffic using Google Analytics and maintain records of user engagement to support reporting and continuous improvement of online content.
  • Conduct user satisfaction surveys gather feedback, evaluate services effectively and identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintain and regularly update content on the SPPG intranet and external website.
  • Ensure digital content complies with accessibility standards, corporate branding requirements and information governance policies.
  • Monitor web content to ensure information is current, accurate and relevant.
  • Support the development of new intranet pages, web content and digital communication channels.
  • Analyse usage statistics and user feedback to support continuous improvement of digital platforms.

Essential Criteria:

1a) A university degree or professional qualification in:

  • Communications
  • Public Relations
  • Marketing
  • Journalism
  • Digital Media
  • Business Studies
  • Or a related discipline

OR

1b) A minimum of three years' relevant communications and engagement experience.

AND

2) A minimum of two years' experience in:

• Developing and delivering communication content across multiple channels.

• Website and/or intranet content management.

• Producing newsletters, reports, presentations or promotional materials.

• Working with a range of stakeholders to develop communication products.

• Using Microsoft Office 365 applications including Teams, SharePoint and PowerPoint.

3) Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.*

Demonstrable knowledge of:

• Internal and external communications principles.

• Digital communications and web content management.

• Accessibility and plain English standards.

Graphic design and content creation tools.

• Social media and digital engagement approaches.

• Information governance and data protection requirements.

Ability to:

• Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

• Build effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

• Prioritise and manage competing deadlines.

• Work independently and as part of a team.

• Analyse information and present it clearly to different audiences.

• Evidence of ability to network with other Health & Social Care professionals and statutory/voluntary/ independent organisations on own initiative and to have a solution- focussed approach.
