Become a valuable member of Platinum by taking on the role of a full-time Mobile M&E Maintenance Engineer covering the West Sussex County. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a professional team delivering high-quality planned and reactive maintenance services across a varied portfolio of council properties. Your skills, reliability, and attention to detail will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of essential public buildings.
You will cover multiple sites including care homes, libraries, fire stations, offices, depots, and other council-owned buildings throughout West Sussex. The main purpose of the role is to provide an outstanding maintenance service by carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), statutory compliance checks, and reactive repairs on electrical, mechanical, and building services systems, while supporting client requests and maintaining excellent site standards.
Working Pattern
- Monday to Friday
- 40 hours per week
- Typical hours: 07:00am – 16:00pm or 08:00am – 17:00pm depending on client requirements
- Overtime opportunities available
- Participation in Out of Hours call-out rota required
Daily Activities / Responsibilities
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) across mechanical, electrical, and fabric assets.
- Attend a range of council sites daily, weekly, and monthly as scheduled.
- Perform routine water hygiene tasks including tap flushing, water temperature testing, pipework, and TMV checks where required.
- Carry out fire safety compliance tasks including weekly fire alarm testing, emergency lighting checks, and liaison with specialist contractors.
- Assist with sprinkler and life safety system inspections/tests.
- Complete general reactive maintenance tasks including plumbing, electrical fault finding, lighting, doors, locks, heating, pumps, and minor fabric repairs.
- Respond promptly to urgent client call-outs and breakdowns.
- Complete service reports, logbooks, compliance paperwork, and digital records accurately.
- Supervise visiting subcontractors and ensure safe systems of work are followed.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety across all council premises.
- Build positive working relationships with site staff, caretakers, and client representatives.
Ideal Candidate
- Qualified in NVQ Level 2 Mechanical / Plumbing and/or NVQ Level 3 Electrical maintenance.
- Experience in mobile building services maintenance.
- Good understanding of compliance tasks within public sector buildings.
- Able to work independently and manage own schedule.
- Full UK driving licence required.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Enhanced DBS.
