Houdini Technical Director (Procedural Tools & Pipeline)
Platige Image is looking for a highly skilled Houdini Technical Director to join our Development Team. Youβll work closely with artists to design efficient systems for content creation and help integrate Houdini-based solutions into our pipeline, enabling them to work faster and smarter. DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES IN A NUTSHELL
β Design and build procedural tools and systems in Houdini for VFX, environments or asset generation.
β Work closely with artists to troubleshoot scenes, optimize networks, and improve efficiency.
β Create artist-friendly HDAs, shelf tools, and pipeline integrations.
β Collaborate with pipeline developers to connect Houdini to the broader DCC ecosystem.
β Define and maintain best practices for Houdini workflows across teams.
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
β Expert-level proficiency in Houdini, including SOPs, VEX, VOPs, LOPs and procedural modeling/simulation.
β Proven experience developing robust, reusable tools and digital assets (HDAs).
β Strong understanding of simulation systems (particles, fluids, destruction, pyro, etc.).
β Comfortable with scripting in Python and working with APIs.
β Ability to collaborate with both technical and artistic team members.
β Experience working in high-end pipelines for film, games, cinematics, or real-time projects.
ADDITIONALLY SCORED
β Experience with USD, Solaris, Arnold.
β Familiarity with Maya, Unreal Engine and real-time pipeline integration.
β Knowledge of pipeline tools like Rez, version control (Perforce) and asset management.
