About the Role
As a Commercial Finance Analyst for People, Property & Corporate Services, you will partner with the business, bringing your knowledge together with your financial expertise to drive the financial performance. Utilising your business understanding, you\’ll be able to interpret results for business stakeholders, perform budgeting and forecasting, financially evaluate business strategies to create value and lead on annual insurance renewals with brokers.
Detailed Business and Product Understanding
- Builds commercial awareness through a detailed understanding of the business area, its activities and products to enable the translation of non-financial information into financial outputs that drive business performance.
- Engages with a variety of finance and business stakeholders to understand and interrogate performance variances and trends, to provide insights that are relevant and tailored to the needs of the business.
- Through a wider understanding of the business, administers the company\’s insurance policies. Collates, challenges and submits information received for annual insurance renewals, works with brokers to understand policy changes and maintains oversight of claims made to ensure that the business has appropriate insurance in place to manage risks.
Bringing Financial Information to Life
- Deliver month end results to business stakeholders having anticipated a wide range of queries regarding financial performance.
- Works closely with department leads and cost centre managers to produce stretching budgets and forecasts.
- Uses a range of tools and communication techniques to convey key drivers of financial performance.
- Offers commercial insight and advises on key causes of deviations in performance and any suitable corrective actions identified.
- Provides follow up information and responds to ad hoc queries as required to add interpretation.
- Provide mentorship for more junior in the business to develop their understanding and knowledge of finance business partner roles, create linkages between the operations of the business and the financial results, influencing their business understanding and wider development.
Financial Governance and Control
- Accountable for the review and analysis of financial results for People, Property & Corporate Services functions and developing robust plans that deliver the business strategy.
- The outputs produced allow the business to plan and monitor the allocation and usage of its financial resources, and provide assurance that the operations of the business are financially secure and plans are in place to deliver financial performance.
- Ensures that sufficient and valid business insurances remain in place.
- Acknowledges when specialist inputs are required and seeks the guidance of internal experts within group accounting and tax.
Data Analysis and Modelling
- Model large volumes of data through a combination of specialist finance applications and Excel to produce budgeting and forecasting models.
- Actualises outputs and analyses KPIs, variances and trends using familiar operations such as pivot tables and look up functions to identify anomalies and opportunities.
- Adopts emerging technologies such as Power Query, Power Automate and Power BI to improve processes, efficiency, and quality of outputs.
- Operates controls over data inputs, processing of data and analysis outputs to ensure accuracy of deliverables.
About You:
In order to be successful in the role you must posses the following skills and experience:
- Studying towards ACCA/CIMA/ACA or similar
- Analytical, quick to grasp the fundamentals the business needs
- Communication and relationship building skills to enable you to interact and interpret information with a wide variety of stakeholders
- Strong Excel and financial modelling skills
- Clear, easy to interpret written and presentation skills
- Ability to manage a high-volume workload in a fast-moving and changeable environment
- Previous experience in Telecoms or equivalent setting would be beneficial, but is not essential
