We are supporting a major renewable energy developer/contractor delivering multiple utility-scale solar PV projects across the Midlands and wider UK network. We are seeking an experienced Solar Site Manager to take full responsibility for day-to-day site delivery on a live utility-scale solar farm. This is a leadership position on a high-value renewable asset where you will be expected to run site operations, coordinate subcontractors, and act as the key interface between delivery teams and the client/developer/asset owner.
What you’ll be doing:
- Day-to-day management of a utility-scale solar PV construction site (30MW+)
- Coordinating civils, electrical, and mechanical subcontractors on site
- Driving programme delivery and ensuring key milestones are achieved
- Managing site logistics, sequencing of works, and labour planning
- Ensuring strict HSE compliance across all site activities
- Running daily site briefings, progress meetings, and coordination with engineers
- Working closely with Project Manager, QA/QC, and commissioning teams
- Managing snagging, punch lists, and ensuring defects are closed out
- Supporting commissioning readiness through to energisation
- Acting as the main on-site point of contact for client/developer representatives
What we’re looking for:
- Proven experience as a Site Manager on utility-scale solar PV projects
- Strong background in EPC, principal contractor, or renewable construction delivery
- Demonstrable experience managing multiple subcontractor packages
- Strong understanding of civils (earthworks, piling, structures, cable routes) and electrical installation (DC/AC systems, inverter stations)
- Comfortable running fast-paced, multi-discipline construction sites
- Strong leadership and coordination skills on live projects
- Previous client/developer-facing experience on live solar or infrastructure projects
Candidates must be comfortable:
- Reporting directly to developer/asset owner representatives
- Attending client meetings and progress reviews
- Managing expectations from both EPC and client side
- Operating in an environment where quality, reporting, and accountability are scrutinised at asset-owner level
This is not suitable for purely subcontractor-level supervisors with no client interaction experience.
Experience on:
- BESS or hybrid solar + storage projects
- SMSTS / CSCS (essential for site access)
- First Aid certification
- Experience with commissioning phases and energisation support
- Midlands-based utility solar project(s)
- Strong pipeline of future UK solar & BESS work
If you’ve delivered utility-scale solar projects and are confident operating in a client-facing, developer-led environment, please get in touch for a confidential discussion.
