The Role

  • Take on people-leadership for the first time (or build on early experience), initially supporting and developing a Commercial Assistant, with scope to take on wider team responsibility as the department grows.
  • Manage commercial delivery on NEC Option C / target cost contracts for a major public-sector client, plus privately secured subcontract work with tier one contractors.
  • Work closely with a supportive Director who is actively building a leadership pipeline, this role has a clear, discussed route toward Managing Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager responsibility as the team and estimating function are integrated.
  • Get involved beyond your own patch, pricing input, cost control, value engineering, and reporting, with visibility across the wider commercial picture rather than a narrow slice of it.

What We're Looking For

  • A strong Senior Quantity Surveyor within a civil engineering or infrastructure environment, highways, rail, water and energy backgrounds all genuinely considered.
  • Solid working knowledge of NEC contracts, ideally with target cost / Option C experience.
  • Experience dealing with Tier 1 and Tier 2 contractors, producing applications and agreeing final accounts.
  • Exposure to monthly CVR reporting and commercial governance processes.
  • Proactive and tenacious, someone who chases down commercial extras rather than waiting for them to be flagged.
  • Genuinely ambitious and ready for the step up into managing others and taking on more ownership.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Why Make the Move

  • A defined, realistic path into a management role, not a vague promise, but a role that's already being built around this progression.

  • A strong, competitive package including car allowance, private healthcare, and a bonus scheme based on targets and company performance.
