We’re working with a well‑established main contractor who are looking to bring in someone at assistant / intermediate level to support their team across pre‑construction and design coordination. This isn’t a graduate role and won’t suit someone looking for their first opportunity; they’re looking for someone who can step in, take ownership of coordination tasks early on, and help reduce pressure on the senior team.
The role will sit between Directors, consultants and internal teams, making sure the design process runs smoothly, information is managed correctly, and projects are properly set up from the outset.
What you’ll be doing:
- Managing drawing registers and ensuring information is accurate and up to date
- Issuing and tracking drawings and documentation to the correct stakeholders
- Liaising with architects, consultants and operational teams
- Monitoring design changes and ensuring the latest information is being used
- Supporting pre‑construction by organising design‑related workflows and identifying gaps
What they’re looking for:
- Experience in design coordination, assistant design management, or a similar coordination role within construction
- Comfortable working with drawings, specifications and construction packages
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple moving parts
- Confident communicator, able to deal with different teams and stakeholders
- Someone who can pick things up quickly and work with minimal supervision
Backgrounds could include:
- Main contractor
- Fit‑out / interiors
They are primarily looking for a design‑led background, but are open to candidates with some exposure to planning/programme coordination who understand how projects are delivered.
Why it’s a good move:
- Opportunity to step into a design‑focused role within a contractor environment
- Close exposure to senior leadership and decision‑making
- Clear pathway to progress into a Design Manager role
- Stable business with a consistent pipeline of work
