Senior Design Engineer in Southampton

Senior Design Engineer A specialist engineering manufacturer supplying safety-critical equipment is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design of regulated products from concept through to production and testing. This is a senior, hands-on role working to published standards and internal design processes. Key Responsibilities * Design and develop mechanical products for safety-critical applications * Produce detailed CAD models and manufacturing drawings * Support product testing, validation, and technical documentation * Liaise with customers, suppliers, and external test houses * Manage external design and test resources where required * Support products through manufacture and into service Requirements * Strong background in mechanical design engineering * Experience taking products from concept through to production (NPI) * Proficiency in CAD (CREO/ProE or similar) * Experience with manufacturing processes such as injection moulding, rubber moulding, machining, and fabrication * Familiarity with DFM, DFMEA, and design control processes * Comfortable working in regulated or safety-critical environments Desirable * Experience with pneumatics, instrumentation, or test fixtures * Surface modelling experience * Experience using CAD data management systems Personal Attributes * Detail-focused, technically rigorous, and organised * Able to manage multiple priorities and projects * Confident communicating with customers, suppliers, and regulators
