We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a well-established engineering organisation based in South London, offering long-term career progression, hands-on involvement, and technical leadership.
This site-based, full-time permanent role is ideal for a technically skilled engineer who enjoys balancing hands-on engineering with leadership, team development, and quality assurance.
What You’ll Be Doing:- Oversee and guide the daily activities of the engineering team, including workshop operations.
- Conduct failure analysis, support condition assessments, and contribute to first article inspections (FAIs).
- Drive process improvements and support in safety-critical environments.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians, ensuring continuous technical development.
- Minimum HNC/HND in a mechanically biased discipline.
- At least 10 years of professional mechanical engineering experience, with 5+ years in team leadership.
- Strong engineering knowledge across sectors like rail, marine, power generation, and oil & gas.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical driveline components (gearboxes, couplings, shafts, etc.) is advantageous.
- Familiarity with CAD tools such as Siemens NX, Autodesk Inventor, and Teamcenter.
- Solid understanding of BS 8888, ISO 9001:2015, manufacturing, and production processes.
- Commercial awareness and a proactive, hands-on attitude.
- Passion for engineering and mentoring.
- Confident communicator, both technically and conversationally.
- Able to manage multiple projects and lead from the front.
- Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 (depending on experience)
- Bonus Scheme (pro rata for first year)
