Production Team Leader – Manufacturing & Assembly | Chichester | Up to £50,000
We’re representing a leading manufacturing client in Chichester who are looking for a driven and experienced Production Team Leader to take charge of their production team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills and a background in manufacturing, fabrication, or assembly to step into a role where you’ll make a real impact.
The Opportunity
As Production Team Leader, you’ll be responsible for leading and motivating a small team, ensuring day-to-day production targets are achieved in terms of quality, delivery, and cost. You’ll champion lean manufacturing principles, oversee continuous improvement initiatives, and drive efficiency through excellent people management and structured processes.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll not only oversee production but also be actively involved in implementing and sustaining flow cells, lean practices, and Kanban inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and manage the production team to achieve quality, delivery, and cost targets
- Implement and sustain lean manufacturing principles including one-piece flow, Kanban, 5S, and continuous improvement
- Manage performance, training, and cross-skilling of team members
- Chair daily team huddles, reviewing KPIs and driving accountability
- Ensure production documentation, visual management, and MRP/ERP transactions are accurate and up to date
- Support engineering changes, new product introductions, and demand-driven production planning
- Uphold company standards in health & safety, quality, and efficiency
About You
We’re looking for an enthusiastic leader with a hands-on approach, excellent problem-solving ability, and strong knowledge of production, assembly, and manufacturing processes.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in a production, assembly, or manufacturing leadership role
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and problem-solving techniques
- Good knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (Sage experience is an advantage)
- Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Excellent organisational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to motivate teams, manage performance, and drive results
- A proactive and positive “can-do” attitude
