My client requires an experienced RF Design Engineer to provide expert-level hardware development and integration support for our next generation of high-reliability wireless terminals. The consultant will be responsible for the end-to-end design, simulation, and hardware-level optimisation of critical RF subsystems.
Scope of Work & Deliverables:
- Complete component-level schematic design and PCB layout supervision for high-power RF chains, specifically focusing on Power Amplifiers (PA), Low Noise Amplifiers (LNA), and Frequency Generation circuitry.
- Perform detailed circuit and electromagnetic simulations using ADS or CST to predict performance and ensure first-pass success of matching networks and filter designs.
- Deliver optimised hardware solutions operating across the 700MHz to 6GHz range, ensuring full compatibility with 5G/LTE/4G and WiFi standards.
Required Technical Expertise:
- Deep expertise in discrete RF hardware design (Transmitters, Receivers, and PAs).
- In-depth understanding of 3GPP (5G/LTE) and 802.11 (WiFi) physical layer requirements.
- Use of Spectrum Analysers, Network Analysers, and high-speed oscilloscopes.
- Must be eligible for UK Security Clearance.
Contract Details:
- Duration: Initial 6 months, potential for extension
- Location: Primarily on-site (Cambridge) for hardware lab access; hybrid for design/simulation phases.
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week with a flexible approach to meet project milestones.
