Mechanical Design Engineer – Electro-Mechanical

Location: South West Cambridgeshire
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established and innovative product development company. The company specialises in the design and development of electro-mechanical scientific instrumentation, taking products from initial concept through to full-scale production.
This is a fantastic role for an engineer looking to make a real impact, with the chance to work on cutting-edge R&D projects and contribute to the design of complex electro-mechanical scientific instrumentation. You\’ll be part of a multi-disciplinary team, with exposure to a broad range of engineering challenges in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Develop products from concept through to production
+ Design complex electro-mechanical systems
+ 3D CAD design
+ Build and test prototypes
+ Work closely with a cross-functional R&D team across electronics, software, and systems
+ Participate in design reviews, problem-solving sessions and continuous improvement initiatives
+ Ensure designs are optimised for manufacture and assembly (DFM/DFA)
Skills & Experience Required:
+ Degree in relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent experience)
+ Previous experience in developing electro-mechanical systems is a must
– pneumatics, actuators, linear motors, servo motors or motion control products
+ Strong 3D CAD design skills
+ Proven experience developing products from concept through to manufacture
+ Good understanding of materials, tolerances, manufacturing techniques
+ Hands on workshop skills β build and testing prototypes
