I'm recruiting for a global engineering client in Kent who are looking to expand their mechanical design team. They’re hiring a Mechanical Design Engineer to support R&D, manufacturing, and aftermarket development of diesel fuel injection systems.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a high-performing team working on innovative, high-precision components in the clean automotive and industrial powertrain sector.
The Role:- Design high-pressure diesel fuel injection pumps and related components
- Create 3D models and detailed drawings using SolidWorks/NX/CATIA
- Analyse test and simulation data to guide design improvements
- Support DFMEA and participate in product development reviews
- Collaborate with internal teams to assess manufacturability and cost
- Apply GD&T principles and work to tight tolerance, high-precision standards
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturing teams to bring designs to production
- Degree in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 5–10 years’ experience in a mechanical design or product development role
- Strong knowledge of CAD (SolidWorks/NX/CATIA), GD&T, and DFM principles
- Experience with DFMEA and design optimisation tools (Pugh, VA/VE, etc.)
- Good communication and collaboration skills across engineering teams
- Experience designing for high-precision manufacturing environments
- Salary DOE + up to £8,000 relocation support
- Hybrid working – up to 2 days from home (post-probation)
