An established engineering company specialising in advanced electro-optical and precision sensing systems is seeking an Optronics Systems Engineer to join its multidisciplinary development team.
The organisation designs and manufactures high-precision platforms used to integrate optical sensors into demanding operational environments. Their systems combine optics, precision mechanics, electronics and control software, and are used in applications where accurate sensor alignment, stability and calibration are critical.
This role sits at the intersection of optics, mechanical engineering and systems integration, ensuring that optical sensors perform correctly once integrated into complex hardware systems.
The Role
The successful candidate will support the development and integration of electro-optical sensing systems from concept through to testing and delivery. Responsibilities will include:
- Defining and managing system-level requirements for electro-optical sensing systems
- Supporting the integration of optical sensors with mechanical and electronic subsystems
- Defining optical alignment and calibration procedures
- Working closely with mechanical and electronics engineers to ensure designs meet system performance requirements
- Supporting prototype builds, integration and system testing
- Investigating and resolving performance issues during development and validation
- Working with external sensor suppliers to ensure successful integration into the overall system architecture
- Supporting verification and validation activities to confirm system performance
Key Skills & Experience
