An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Development Engineer to join an innovative engineering business developing advanced opto-mechanical products. This role offers the opportunity to work across the full product development lifecycle, from early-stage concepts through to product validation and manufacture, while working on technically challenging projects in a collaborative engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering projects from concept through to manufacture
  • Develop new products and processes - supporting NPI
  • Plan and carry out laboratory testing, analysis and product validation
  • Produce technical documentation, reports and engineering specifications
  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve product performance and manufacturing processes
  • Support continuous improvement activities and technical problem solving

Key Skills & Experience:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Optics, Physics or a related engineering discipline
  • Industrial experience in product development or R&D
  • Experience with lab testing, product validation and technical reporting
  • Understanding of mechanical design principles and precision engineering
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
  • CAD experience and knowledge of manufacturing or NPI processes is advantageous
