An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well-established and innovative engineering business developing production line machinery. The company designs and delivers complex equipment from initial concepts through to commissioning. This is a fantastic role for an engineer looking to make a real impact, with the chance to work on the full product lifecycle as well as taking on day-to-day mentoring and management within the design team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop special purpose machinery
- Mentor and manage other design engineers in the team
- Take concepts through detailed design and manufacture
- 2D and 3D CAD design - including layouts and detailed drawings
- Structural design for demanding operating environments
- Build, assemble, and test prototypes
Skills & Experience Required:
- Proven experience in developing capital equipment, conveyors or special purpose machinery
- Previous experience in managing and mentoring engineers
- Strong 2D & 3D CAD skills
- Experience with machining, fabrication, or other production processes
- Hands-on engineering skills, including prototyping, assembly, and fault finding
