Are you ready to lead and inspire a high-performing Occupational Health and Safety team while driving strategic health and safety initiatives across the organisation? We're looking for a Head of Occupational Health and Safety to take on a pivotal leadership role within Platform and shape the future of our health and safety culture, ensuring robust compliance and a safe environment for colleagues, customers, and contractors.
Reporting to the Director of Risk and Assurance, as our Head of Occupational Health and Safety, you'll lead the Occupational Health and Safety function, including H&S managers and specialists, working closely with the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams and engaging with Heads of Service, managers, and external partners to promote and embed strong H&S culture and practices.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and develop a highâperforming H&S team, ensuring capability, engagement and continuous improvement, and that H&S remains central to Platform's priorities and ways of working.
- Function as the organisation's competent H&S person, promoting awareness, championing best practice and a strong safety culture.
- Ensure all H&S risks impacting colleagues, customers and contractors are effectively understood and managed.
- Maintain compliant, upâtoâdate H&S policies, procedures and standards aligned to legislation and organisational needs.
- Lead corporate risk assessments and provide relevant assurance reporting.
- Provide accurate performance data, analysis and insights to the Executive Team, Board and Committees, monitoring and responding appropriately to identified performance trends.
- Lead corporate reporting, including RIDDOR, incident and nearâmiss data.
- Oversee H&S databases to ensure accuracy, followâup actions and risk mitigation.
- Ensure training needs are identified and addressed, including management responsibilities for investigations and compliance.
- Contribute to business continuity and emergency planning.
- Keep abreast of industry developments and engage effectively with health and safety leaders across the sector.
- Plan, manage and monitor team budgets and Service Level Agreements.
What are we looking for?
- A Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) or equivalent, with a NEBOSH Diploma or similar qualification.
- Significant seniorâlevel H&S experience, ideally within housing, construction, or facilities management.
- Legislative interpretation and compliance expertise (Essential).
- Experience managing H&S risks across colleagues, contractors and customers (Essential).
- Strong stakeholder and senior leadership engagement skills with experience in driving organisational culture change.
- A proactive, tenacious individual with excellent communication, problem solving and project management capabilities.
Whilst this role is predominantly home-based, there will be regular travel to Group offices at Birmingham Business Park, Solihull and Central Park, Worcester, and other locations as required so flexibility is needed.
