Platform Housing Group is one of the largest housing associations in the Midlands. We are seeking a strategic, values-led leader to join us as our first Director of Home Safety. This role reflects the importance we place on safeguarding our homes, supporting our customers, and enabling colleagues to do their best work.

About the Role

This is a newly created and pivotal role within our senior leadership team. You will lead a hybrid team of high-performing colleagues based in the Midlands, and be responsible for setting the standard in building and asset safety across our 50,000 homes. Your remit will include statutory compliance, oversight of specialist systems (M&E and heating), and a strong focus on using data and technology to drive continuous improvement.

You will join a team with strong existing frameworks in place. But there is significant scope to enhance and modernise how we work, refining systems, strengthening assurance, and developing supplier partnerships to meet our evolving responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction for all aspects of home safety.
  • Lead compliance functions including periodic inspections, testing, and servicing.
  • Oversee contract management for specialist services and M&E works.
  • Maintain strong data governance and improve asset safety records.
  • Influence internal stakeholders and support cross-team accountability.
  • Drive improvements through innovation, customer insight, and collaboration.
  • Engage with customers to ensure their voices shape service development.

About You

We are looking for a confident, credible, and inclusive leader with:

  • A strong track record in safety and compliance, ideally within social housing.
  • Experience in managing M&E contracts, data systems, and risk.
  • The ability to influence across a complex organisation and regulatory landscape.
  • A collaborative approach to leadership and service improvement.
  • A customer-first mindset that prioritises safety outcomes and service experience.

Whether your strengths lie in formal qualifications or depth of experience, we are most interested in your ability to lead, influence, and create a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience).
  • Professional qualifications (e.g. MCIOB, MRICS, MIFireE) are desirable.
  • Health and safety credentials (e.g. NEBOSH, CMIOSH) are also desirable.

Why Join Us?

This is an exciting time to join Platform as we refine our strategy, upgrade digital systems, and explore new ways to improve safety and customer service. You’ll be joining a refreshed senior team with strong organisational momentum and the opportunity to shape our direction at scale. You will be supported by a high-performing, stable team of remote colleagues based in the Midlands, providing a strong foundation on which to lead and grow.
