The Quality Engineer is responsible for driving root cause analysis, increasing process effectiveness, and ensuring product conformity through quality tools and methodologies. This role specialises in managing 8D investigations, Non‑Conforming Product Reports (NPRs), Corrective & Preventive Actions, CRMAs/SRMAs, and supports continuous improvement using Lean principles, 5S implementation, and internal auditing, while supporting other quality functions.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Assist in dealing with day-to-day quality-related issues and queries, both internal & external.
- Facilitate 8D problem‑solving activities to drive effective containment, root cause identification, and sustainable corrective actions.
- Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to ensure timely completion of 8Ds, NPR and CRMAs.
- Review, analyse, and process Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) from supplier, customer and internal sources.
- Determine appropriate containment, disposition, and risk assessment for non‑conforming product.
- Raise and manage CRMAs and SRMAs to closure, implement and validate corrective actions as part of a team.
- Plan and conduct internal process audits to ISO 9001/AS9120/ISO13485 standards as part of a team.
- Apply Lean tools to eliminate inefficiencies and improve quality performance.
- Work with the quality team to implement and maintain 5S initiatives across warehouse and inspection areas.
- Update and maintain quality documentation, procedures, and work instructions as part of a team.
- Review and implement process/procedure change requests as part of a team.
- Create weekly/monthly reports including NCR status, complaints, audit findings, and progress.
- Raising and reviewing FAIRs as part of a team.
Competency:
- Strong understanding of 8D methodology and structured problem‑solving tools.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9120 and ISO13485 quality standards.
- Experience with NCR systems and corrective action workflows.
- Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for internal and external.
- Ability to coach others in quality tools and techniques.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- On‑time closure of NCRs, CRMAs, and SRMAs.
