We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Class 2 HGV Delivery Driver to join our clients friendly and professional team in Dartford. This long-term, ongoing day-shift assignment offers consistent routes to regular customer locations, giving you the stability of familiar deliveries and predictable working hours.

You will work independently, manage each delivery safely and efficiently, and represent the business to a high standard. The role includes manual loading and unloading, accurate paperwork, use of job-tracking technology and occasional warehouse support at the end of the shift.

Key responsibilities

  • Carry out thorough vehicle checks at the beginning and end of every shift, reporting any defects promptly.
  • Load and unload the vehicle safely, ensuring all goods are secure and the trailer is emptied on return to site.
  • Consistent local routes servicing approximately 4 regular customer locations (maximum delivery distance to London).
  • Use job-tracking software to receive assignments, update delivery status and navigate the route.
  • Complete all delivery paperwork accurately and use computerised equipment as required.
  • Build and maintain a positive, professional relationship with regular customers.
  • Follow all road safety, site and company procedures.
  • Support with occasional end-of-shift warehouse duties, including putting cages away, as directed.

Essential requirements

  • Valid, clean and in-date Class 2 / Category C driving licence.
  • Valid Driver CPC and Digital Tachograph card.
  • At least five years experience in a similar HGV driving role.
  • For insurance purposes, applicants must be aged 25 or over.
  • Good physical fitness, as manual loading and unloading is required.
  • Five years checkable employment history and satisfactory references.
  • Willingness to complete a DBS check arranged by the client.

  • Physically capable of loading, unloading and transferring stock at the customers site.
  • Comfortable using job-tracking software and computerised delivery equipment.
  • Positive, friendly and team-oriented approach.
  • Five years of HGV Class 2 driving experience is preferred.

Shift pattern, pay and benefits

  • Monday to Thursday: 06:00-15:00 (8.5hrs working, 30min unpaid break)
  • Friday: 06:00-14:30 (8 hrs working, 30min unpaid break)
  • 42 paid hours per week.
  • Standard hourly rate: £17.43 (basic rate includes London waiting)
  • Overtime and up to 12:00pm Saturday: £17.73
  • Overtime Saturday and Bank Holiday: £21.82
  • Annual salary equivalent: to be confirmed.
  • Weekly pay and online payslips.
  • Workplace pension.
  • 28 days annual leave, inclusive of eight bank holidays.
  • Annual leave entitlement increases to 30 days, inclusive of bank holidays, after 12 completed weeks.
  • Long-term, ongoing assignment with regular routes and consistent customer locations.
