Our client is a well established and successful civil engineering and groundworks contractor. Due to retirement, they are actively searching for an experienced Buyer to take over the management of the companies procurement department. The main role is to service our business and external sites with their material, plant and service requirements in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Based on the outskirts of London within easy access to the M25 and M3, this role would suit an experienced buying manager or a senior buyer looking to take the step into management.
ROLE:- Support procurement and supply chain activities, including sourcing and purchasing materials, plant hire, and services essential to construction projects.
- Produce group and internal reporting on spend, material usage, and waste to support cost control and sustainability objectives.
- Assist with the tendering and PQQ (Pre-Qualification Questionnaire) processes.
- Monitor market conditions, analyse trends, and research potential suppliers, materials, and products.
- Support the achievement of group environmental and sustainability targets.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, processes, and governance frameworks to maintain quality and audit standards.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to resolve procurement and supply chain queries.
- Manage supplier onboarding processes and ensure ongoing supplier compliance.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with the supply chains key decision makers.
- Proven experience in a procurement or supply chain role within the civils and construction sectors.
- Experience in supplier management, including performance monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Demonstrable experience delivering cost savings and value improvement initiatives.
- Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Proactive and self-motivated, with the ability to identify areas for improvement and propose practical solutions.
- Ability to prioritise a challenging workload with competing demands, with appropriate support where required.
