At Planthood, we create chef-prepared plant-based meal kits that make it easier and more exciting for people to eat more whole foods. We’re a fast-growing food startup based in East London, driven by flavour, innovation and purpose.

We’re looking for a sharp, proactive and detail-driven Operations Executive to support the day-to-day running of our supply chain and production. If you’re passionate about food, logistics, systems and love getting things done behind the scenes, this could be the perfect fit.

THE ROLE

  • This is a hands-on, cross-functional role that sits at the heart of our operations – supporting procurement, supplier management, inventory control, and broader team processes.
  • Raise and manage purchase orders for ingredients, packaging, and consumables.
  • Track deliveries and liaise with suppliers on lead times, pricing, and product issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date supplier records, certifications, and performance KPIs.
  • Communicate inbound status and risks to production and warehouse teams.
  • Monitor inventory levels and help avoid stockouts or overstocking.
  • Flag short shelf-life or slow-moving stock to minimise waste.
  • Maintain procurement logs, delivery trackers, and internal data records.
  • Support invoice approvals, checking documentation and liaising with the Accounts team.
  • Research suppliers, products, and logistics options to inform decision-making.
  • Compile cost comparisons, obtain samples, and present recommendations.
  • Attend cross-functional meetings to support new product launches.
  • Communicate product specs to production (e.g., shelf life, storage, handling).
  • Support the upkeep of product listings and recipe content on our website, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Send ASNs and check GRNs, resolving delivery discrepancies.
  • Assist with quality control documentation and supplier issue resolution.
  • Ensure smooth admin coordination between internal teams and third-party logistics.

ABOUT YOU

  • Organised, analytical and a strong communicator.
  • Calm under pressure and proactive in solving problems.
  • Able to juggle multiple projects, suppliers and deadlines with precision.
  • Comfortable using spreadsheets, ERP systems and learning new tools.
  • Keen to contribute ideas and improve how things work.

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience in food, FMCG, logistics or e-commerce.
  • A working knowledge of procurement, supply chain or operations.
  • Familiarity with sustainability, ethical sourcing or food safety standards.

We understand that not every candidate will meet every requirement listed above. If you’re genuinely interested in this role and in joining our team, we encourage you to apply – even if your experience doesn’t align perfectly. We value potential, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn, and we’d be glad to hear how you believe you could contribute.

WORKING HOURS & PAY

  • Contract: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Working Hours: Monday to Thursday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Friday: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
  • Salary: £30,000 – £32,000 per annum (dependent on experience).

We offer:

  • Biannual bonus opportunities.
  • Opportunities for promotion and professional development within a fast-growing team.
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.
  • Free meals during your shift, freshly prepared by our chefs.
  • Take-home meal kits, with the chance to share your feedback and help us improve.
  • Regular team socials and events, including climbing, bowling, and our soon-to-be-famous Christmas party.
  • A supportive and balanced work environment, with sociable hours compared to traditional hospitality roles.
