Architectural Technologist

Birmingham | Full-Time | Permanent

My client is an award-winning, employee-owned architectural practice with an outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality projects across a diverse range of sectors throughout the UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Architectural Technologist to join their Birmingham studio.

This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a collaborative and supportive team, working on a varied portfolio of projects while playing a key role in the technical delivery of schemes from concept through to completion.

The Role

As an Architectural Technologist, you will be responsible for producing and coordinating technical design information across all RIBA work stages, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest technical standards. You will work closely with clients, consultants and multidisciplinary teams, providing technical expertise throughout the design and construction process.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Producing and coordinating high-quality technical design information across all RIBA stages.

  • Leading and coordinating multidisciplinary project teams.

  • Liaising with clients, consultants and statutory authorities.

  • Attending site visits and representing the practice throughout project delivery.

  • Applying practical, technical solutions to complex design challenges.

  • Working collaboratively with colleagues while managing your own workload effectively.

  • Travelling to project sites across the UK when required.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Around 5+ years' experience as an Architectural Technologist, Architectural Technician or technically focused Architect.

  • A degree in Architectural Technology or an equivalent UK-recognised qualification.

  • A strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and current construction legislation.

  • Experience delivering projects across all RIBA work stages.

  • A portfolio demonstrating technically complex projects, ideally within the education, industrial or residential sectors.

  • Experience in a client-facing role with excellent communication skills.

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite.

  • Excellent written and spoken English.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • ArchiCAD experience is advantageous but not essential, as full training and BIM support can be provided.

Please note:

Unfortunately, sponsorship is not available for this position.

What's on Offer?

In return, my client offers an excellent benefits package, including:

  • Competitive salary with structured career progression.

  • Employee ownership, giving you a genuine stake in the success of the business.

  • Hybrid working, with a flexible 50% office/home working policy.

  • 25 days annual leave, plus Christmas closure days and bank holidays, with additional leave awarded for long service.

  • Private healthcare for you and your immediate family.

  • Employee Assistance Programme and remote GP access.

  • Ongoing CPD, mentoring and professional development opportunities.

  • Cycle to Work and Electric Car schemes.

  • Retail discounts through Perkbox.

  • Company pension scheme.

If you're an experienced Architectural Technologist looking to join a well-established practice that values collaboration, technical excellence and career development, we'd love to hear from you.
