Planks is an online brand making premium, made-to-measure oak products and timber components accessible to homeowners and DIYers across the UK.
We're a small, fast-growing team focused on building a simple, efficient production system and delivering a great product. Led by multi-time founder, James Terry (previously co-founder of Dishpatch, now a Waitrose company), Planks is positioned to make quality timber accessible to millions of DIYers and we're excited you're considering joining us on the journey.
About the Role:

This is a hands-on production role - working with solid timber every day, cutting, machining and finishing made-to-order hardwood planks and panels at pace, while maintaining a high standard of quality throughout.
You'll play a key role in keeping the workshop running smoothly and ensuring every piece that leaves the door meets our standards. If you love working with your hands, being productive, and seeing finished products go out the door every day, you'll fit right in.
What you’ll be doing
- Production: cutting planks and panels accurately and efficiently to order specifications.
- Material Picking: selecting material to match order requirements while minimising waste.
- Finishing: sanding, routing and drilling using belt sander, spindle moulder and other workshop machinery.
- Quality Control: completing final checks on finished pieces and making adjustments before fulfilment.
- Workshop Maintenance: keeping the workspace clean, safe and well organised.
