We’re a decorative hardware brand that takes the details seriously — and we want someone who does too. You should have strong opinions about the smallest things, plus be ready to defend them.
This role sits at the centre of how Plank Hardware shows up in the world: social, email, influencer, editorial, campaigns. If you’re the kind of person who notices when a brand sounds exactly like every other brand — and knows instinctively how to fix it — read on.
We’re growing. US market, B2B audiences, bigger brand moments. We need someone who brings genuine creative range — drawing on a working knowledge of what’s landed before, what’s live now, and what the category is doing — to build narratives that feel fresh and specific to Plank Hardware, not recycled from the last brief.
You’ll work closely with the Head of Brand, the Lead Brand Designer, and our PR partners to make sure everything we put into the world feels considered, connected and impactful. On creative projects — campaigns, launches, lookbooks — you and the Lead Brand Designer will work as a team: you shape the words and the brief, they shape how it looks. The best work here happens when those two things are built together, not handed off.
Location: 3 days a week in our office space located between Liverpool Street and Old Street.
What you’ll own:
- Supported by the Head of Brand, you'll have involvement in the following projects:
- Content Planning & Execution
- Own and manage the social media content calendar across platforms
- Write and produce supporting copy for posts, campaigns, and launches — with tone and intent, not just frequency
- Coordinate and schedule organic content, ensuring consistency and quality
- Influencer & Partnership Management
- Manage day-to-day relationships with influencers and content creators
- Identify new partnership opportunities that are genuinely aligned with the brand
- Coordinate gifting, briefs, and campaign execution
- Creative Briefing & Collaboration
- Develop clear, considered briefs for creative assets across campaigns
- Work closely with the Lead Brand Designer to ensure outputs are built from a shared creative direction
- Support the rollout of brand campaigns across channels
- Email & Editorial
- Plan and build newsletter campaigns in line with wider brand activity
- Write blog articles and editorial content to support SEO and storytelling
- Collaborate with PR to align messaging across channels
- Cross-Channel Integration
- Ensure campaigns and communications are joined-up across social, email, PR and website
- Support product launches and key brand moments with coherent messaging
- Performance & Optimisation
- Monitor content performance and engagement across channels
- Identify opportunities to improve output based on learnings
- Support a more structured approach to testing and iteration
What we’re looking for:
- Experience in social media, content, or communications — ideally within interiors, design, lifestyle, or ecommerce
- Strong copywriting skills with a genuine ear for tone and an instinct for when something isn’t quite right
- Ideas-hungry — creative solutions come naturally, not just when asked
- Able to find a red thread between conversations, emails, research, and archived content — and turn it into something that lands
- Organised and proactive — able to manage multiple projects at once without losing the quality
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing environment
- A genuine interest in interiors, design, and brand-led businesses
What success looks like:
- A clear and consistent content calendar that aligns with brand priorities
- Communications that feel connected: social, email, PR, and site all pointing in the same direction
- More proactive and structured influencer partnerships
- Creative projects that are better because copy and design were built together from the start
- A noticeable uplift in the overall quality and consistency of brand output
Why this role matters:
Plank Hardware is doing something genuinely different in a category that has spent decades being stuffy, generic and slightly dull. This role helps make sure that difference is visible — in every caption, every send, every brief, every launch.
If that sounds like the kind of work you want to do, we’d like to hear from you.
What Plank Hardware can offer you:
- Competitive salary — You’ll be offered a salary of £40,000 p/a, dependent on experience, with opportunities for progression as the business grows.
- Autonomy — We’re a small business (around 20 employees), on a rapid growth journey. You’ll have the opportunity to make your mark and shape how our brand evolves.
- Flexibility — We currently work in our Leyton-based office (NE London) a minimum of three days a week. The other two are up to you.
- Staff discount — Embarking on your own DIY projects? You’ll receive discounts on our collections of premium hardware, so you can live and breathe the brand in your own home.
