An exciting opportunity has arisen for an R&D Design Engineer to join a well-established and innovative engineering manufacturer based in Oxfordshire. Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, you will play a key role in the development of new products and the enhancement of existing product ranges.

This position offers the opportunity to be involved throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept generation and prototyping through to testing, evaluation, and implementation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new products and product improvements.
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models and engineering documentation.
  • Build and test prototypes throughout the development process.
  • Analyse and document test results, making recommendations for further development.
  • Generate and maintain bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project objectives are achieved.
  • Support multiple development projects while maintaining quality and timescale targets.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering function.
Candidate Requirements
  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Product Design, or a related discipline.
  • Experience using 3D CAD software in a product development environment.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Hands-on experience of product testing, validation, or prototype development.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Previous experience within a research and development environment.
  • Experience taking products through the full development lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and design for manufacture principles.
  • Experience producing technical reports and development documentation.
