Role: Wireless Installation Assistant Location: Oxford – 5 days Onsite Contract Role: 3 Months Initially £100 – £135 per day Must have driving Licence Post overview: The Wireless Installation Assistant will be part of the networks team who will provide operational support between network teams and the Improving Wireless Programme. The postholder will work in a busy environment and will be part of a team responsible for collecting technical and building information, creating wireless designs for University buildings, configuring and installing our centralised Wi-Fi product across University buildings. The postholder will undertake a wide variety of work that includes basic configuration when required (training provided), preparing Wi-Fi hardware for installation, providing cover to the Installation Officer, whilst also processing first line support incidents raised through our Oxford Service Manager tool. You will be required to work closely with other members of the team and be guided by more senior members of the team.. Responsibilities * to support the planning and coordinating activities, configuration, installation, decommissioning and maintenance of the University’s wireless network hardware/software and associated infrastructure * to support the Installation Officer with the engagement of third-party teams and the University to ensure installations are performed on time and to a good standard whilst adhering to safety and listings regulations. * to support installation activities within departments and colleges, under the guidance of the Installation Officer, providing support and advice to end users during ‘floor walking’ activities as appropriate. * to ensure hardware stock is accurately accounted for, labelled and assigned for delivery to University buildings Skills * Good communication skills. * Proactive * People person * IT knowledge * Networking experience (desirable) Planet Recruitment acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and an employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
