A well-established UK recycling and waste processing business is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to support continued growth. With a long track record and contracts across local authorities, utilities and commercial clients, the organisation delivers sustainable, compliant recycling solutions nationwide.
Hours: Monday-Friday 07:00-17:00, Saturday 07:00-12:00 (flexible/site-based)
Salary: £50,000-£65,000 per annum
The Role
You will provide strategic and operational leadership across multiple recycling and waste processing sites, taking full accountability for performance, safety, compliance and profitability.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading multi-site operations, senior managers and maintenance teams
- Full responsibility for operational, financial, H&S and environmental performance
- Oversight of site P&L, budgets and cost control
- Ensuring consistent health, safety and environmental compliance
- Managing staffing, recruitment, performance and senior disciplinary matters
- Driving operational efficiency, standardisation and continuous improvement
- Overseeing maintenance of plant, vehicles and infrastructure
- Acting as escalation point for major operational issues or emergencies
- Producing clear operational and financial reports for senior leadership
Requirements
- WAMITAB Level 4 and CPC Managers qualification
- Senior operational leadership experience within waste, recycling, logistics or heavy industry
- Proven multi-site management with large teams
- Strong commercial and financial acumen
- Excellent knowledge of H&S and environmental regulations (NEBOSH/IOSH desirable)
- Strong data analysis, reporting and IT skills (MS Office, SAP)
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites
- Relevant plant or vehicle licences desirable (HGV, forklift, 360 excavator)
