Planet Recruitment are working with an established and growing engineering manufacturer based in Witney who are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join their Engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a business that designs and manufactures precision-engineered mechanical products supplied to customers worldwide across demanding industrial and high-performance sectors.
The successful candidate will be involved in the full product development lifecycle, from concept design through to production, working closely with manufacturing, assembly and engineering teams to deliver innovative, high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities- Produce detailed 3D mechanical designs using SolidWorks.
- Create assembly models and fully toleranced manufacturing drawings.
- Design components suitable for CNC machining and manufacture.
- Work closely with machining and assembly teams to optimise designs for manufacture.
- Support new product development from concept through to production.
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and CAD records.
- Assist with prototype development using modern manufacturing technologies including 3D printing and 3D scanning.
- Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) within the company's MRP system.
- Support continuous improvement and ongoing product development initiatives.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer position.
- At least 3 years' experience using SolidWorks.
- Strong 3D CAD modelling skills.
- Experience producing manufacturing drawings with GD&T.
- Good understanding of CNC machining processes and Design for Manufacture (DFM).
- Knowledge of engineering materials, manufacturing methods and surface finishes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- HNC, HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience with prototype development.
- Knowledge of MRP systems and BOM management.
- Experience using 3D scanning and 3D printing technologies.
- An interest in precision engineering, automotive or motorsport industries.
- Previous experience designing suspension or precision mechanical components would be advantageous.
- Competitive salary of £40,000-£45,000 depending on experience.
