A leading global pharmaceutical organisation is seeking an Investigator Initiated Research (IIR) Associate to join its Medical Affairs team on a contract basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Medical Affairs or Clinical Operations professional to support the coordination and delivery of externally sponsored research programmes, working across international teams, investigators, and internal stakeholders.
The Role
As an IIR Associate, you will play a key role in ensuring Investigator Initiated Research programmes are managed effectively, compliantly, and in line with global and local procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
- Acting as a key point of contact for affiliates, investigators, and internal cross-functional teams supporting ongoing IIR/IIT studies
- Coordinating study activities throughout the lifecycle, from approval through maintenance and close-out
- Tracking study milestones, timelines, deliverables, enrolment updates, and risks
- Supporting contract execution, amendments, budget tracking, and financial coordination
- Maintaining accurate study documentation and ensuring ongoing inspection readiness
- Managing updates within IIR tracking systems and ensuring data accuracy
- Supporting investigator communication, operational meetings, and escalation processes
- Coordinating clinical supply requirements and forecasting activities where required
- Supporting final deliverables including reports, publications, and study close-out activities
About You
We are looking for someone with experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, or related pharmaceutical operations who can work effectively in a highly regulated environment.
Ideal experience includes:
- Previous experience within Medical Affairs, Clinical Operations, Clinical Trial Management, or Investigator Initiated Research
- Understanding of the clinical research process and GxP/GCP requirements
- Experience coordinating cross-functional or international teams
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Experience working with investigators, healthcare professionals, CROs, or external research partners
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with clinical systems, trackers, CTMS, IIR platforms, or similar tools
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting Investigator Initiated Trials (IITs/IIRs)
- Experience within a pharmaceutical or biotech environment
- Knowledge of ABPI/EFPIA requirements
- Exposure to contracts, budgets, purchase orders, or invoice management
- Medical/scientific degree or healthcare background
