The Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of complex laboratory and diagnostic instrumentation. Working independently, you will ensure equipment operates reliably while delivering a high standard of technical support and customer service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Installing and commissioning instrumentation at customer sites.
- Performing preventative maintenance activities to planned schedules.
- Diagnosing and repairing electro-mechanical, electronic and software-related faults.
- Troubleshooting network connectivity and system integration issues.
- Maintaining accurate service documentation and reports.
- Managing spare parts and field service inventory.
- Building strong relationships with customers and internal teams.
- Ensuring high levels of equipment uptime and customer satisfaction.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline (HNC, HND or City & Guilds).
- At least 3 years of field service engineering experience.
- Strong electro-mechanical and electronic fault-finding skills.
- Experience installing, servicing and maintaining complex equipment.
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems and networked environments.
- Experience working with TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS and device connectivity troubleshooting.
- The ability to diagnose both hardware and software-related issues.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
- A proactive and independent approach to problem solving.
