Senior / Medical Writer – Oncology (Publications Focus)

📍 Home-based, UK

Are you an experienced Medical Writer with a passion for scientific storytelling and turning complex oncology data into impactful publications? We’re looking for a Senior and a Medical Writer to join a growing, collaborative publications team supporting cutting-edge developments in cancer and molecular imaging.

About the Role

You’ll play a key role in developing and delivering high-quality, data-driven manuscripts, abstracts, and congress materials that communicate novel research to the global scientific community.

Working closely with scientists, clinicians, and cross-functional colleagues, you’ll help shape publication strategy and contribute to the ongoing success of innovative oncology programmes.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop, write, and edit manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations that accurately reflect scientific and clinical data.
  • Analyse and interpret complex data outputs to craft clear, insightful, and impactful publications.
  • Collaborate with internal authors, medical experts, and cross-functional teams to ensure scientific accuracy and editorial excellence.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Support literature reviews, data analysis, and publication planning initiatives.
  • Contribute to a team culture that values collaboration, flexibility, and mutual support—helping colleagues when deadlines or priorities shift.

About You

  • PhD in a life-science discipline, or MSc/BSc with relevant medical writing experience.
  • 3–5 years’ experience for the Senior role or 1–3 years for the Medical Writer position.
  • Proven experience writing and managing scientific publications—must be acknowledged author or contributor on at least one published paper.
  • Prostate cancer expertise is essential; familiarity with medical imaging or PET is a distinct advantage.
  • Background in medical communications, pharma, or med-tech preferred (not academia).
  • Comfortable working with complex datasets and data tables, drawing accurate scientific conclusions.
  • Strong knowledge of publication standards (ICMJE, GPP3/4) and best practices in scientific communication.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and commitment to quality.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently in a remote, supportive team environment.

What’s on Offer

  • A chance to work on innovative, clinically meaningful oncology programmes from pre-clinical through to post-marketing stages.
  • Supportive leadership with genuine work-life flexibility (yes, you can pause to walk the dog!).
  • Competitive salary, bonus, and benefits package.
  • Home-based flexibility with 3–4 in-person team meet-ups per year in Oxford.
