I’m currently supporting a pharmaceutical organisation with the search for an experienced Medical & Scientific Liaison (MSL) to join their Medical Affairs team.

This is a highly field-based role, focused on building trusted scientific relationships with Healthcare Professionals, KOLs, healthcare decision-makers and other external stakeholders across the UK.

The successful MSL will act as a therapy-area expert, providing high-quality, non-promotional scientific exchange , gathering meaningful insights from the field and supporting evidence-generation and medical strategy.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with HCPs, KOLs, payers and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Conduct high-level, non-promotional scientific exchange around clinical data, disease areas and relevant medicines.
  • Gather, analyse and communicate meaningful medical insights from the field.
  • Support evidence-generation activities, including company-sponsored studies and investigator-initiated research.
  • Support pre-launch and post-launch Medical Affairs activities where applicable.
  • Contribute to KOL mapping, prioritisation and engagement planning.
  • Attend relevant medical and scientific congresses and maintain up-to-date therapeutic-area knowledge.
  • Respond appropriately to Medical Information enquiries and communicate relevant safety or risk information.
  • Work closely with Sales, Market Access, Marketing and wider Medical Affairs teams .
  • Support advisory boards, medical education activities and scientific meetings.
  • Maintain accurate records of HCP/KOL interactions within approved CRM systems.
  • Contribute to the development of medical and strategic plans.

About you

We're looking for an established MSL with at least 2 years' experience , ideally gained within hospital pharmaceutical products or specialty care.

You should have:

  • Proven experience working as an MSL within the UK pharmaceutical market .
  • Experience within infectious disease and/or microbiology .
  • Strong scientific and clinical knowledge, with the ability to critically appraise scientific literature and clinical trial data.
  • Experience engaging confidently with HCPs and KOLs through scientific dialogue.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with commercial, Market Access and Medical teams.
  • Good understanding of the UK NHS and pharmaceutical environment .
  • Knowledge of PMCPA requirements and the distinction between promotional and non-promotional activity.
  • Understanding of GCP and clinical research principles.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively manage a large field-based territory.
  • A valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively.

This is a predominantly field-based position, with approximately 70–80% travel across the assigned UK territory , alongside some international travel for relevant scientific congresses and company meetings.
