Store Detective Lead in England

The Store Detective Lead is a key role in ensuring the safety, security, and wellbeing of our colleagues, customers, and stores. You'll take ownership of the operational security function, leading store detective activity, managing and training third-party guards, and collaborating with wider business stakeholders to equip the store teams with tools and knowledge to mitigate risk. This role plays a central part in reducing unknown margin loss (UML), supporting theft investigations, and driving a culture of safety across all Planet Organic stores.

Key Responsibilities:

• Act as the primary onsite Store Detective across all stores, preventing and detecting theft, fraud, and other security risks while safeguarding colleagues, customers, and business property.
• Lead, train, and manage internal and third-party security guards, ensuring consistent standards across the business.
• Deliver security training for store management teams.
• Oversee theft reporting processes and work closely with the police to provide evidence and case support.
• Design and implement processes to strengthen colleague and customer safety.
• Build effective partnerships with internal stakeholders and external security providers.
• Analyse customer and store security-related complaints to identify trends, address root causes, and drive preventative measures.
• Review and assess CCTV footage to support investigations, identify risks, and recommend improvements.
• Take charge of security rotas with our external provider and internal store detectives, ensuring schedules are accurate and aligned with our operational needs and budget.
• Act as the primary point of contact for security matters across all business locations.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:

• Valid SIA License.
• Proven experience as a store detective, ideally across multi-site retail or similar security environments.
• Proven people management experience, including team leadership, addressing underperformance, and coaching.
• Proven experience in recruitment, onboarding, training, and team development.
• Proven experience working with third-party security providers and guards.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, build trust, and collaborate at all levels.
• Availability to work across Planet Organic stores trading from 08:00 to 21:00, including a minimum of two closing shifts and mix of middle and opening shifts on both weekdays and weekends.
