Description
The Store Detective & Security Operations Coordinator plays a key role within the Security function, combining hands-on Store Detective responsibilities with the coordination of day-to-day security operations and administration.
Working across our eight London locations, this role is responsible for helping to maintain a safe and secure environment for our colleagues, customers, and stores, while coordinating effective security activity across the business.
This is a practical, operational role requiring an onsite presence in stores and close collaboration with store teams, internal stakeholders, and our third-party security partner.
The successful candidate will coordinate security activities including incident reporting, security administration, security systems, rota management, training activities, and continuous improvement initiatives across the business.
The location associated with this role for advertising purposes is our Support Office, located in Paddington.
However, your primary place of work will be onsite across all store locations, where you will carry out the duties outlined below.
We have eight stores across London, located between Zones 1 and 3.
You will be required to work two late shifts and one middle shift as a Store Detective as well as two early shifts that support the administration aspects of the role across the weekdays and weekends.
Planet Organic stores are open for trading between 08:00 and 21:00 and flexibility to work these trading hours is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Store Detective & Loss Prevention
- Act as a Store Detective across Planet Organic stores, preventing and detecting theft, fraud, and security risks.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe and secure environment for colleagues, customers, and business property.
- Work collaboratively with Store Managers to identify store security concerns and take appropriate action to mitigate risks or elevate issues to relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure security incidents are accurately recorded, reported, and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
- Identify trends and recurring issues to help improve loss prevention activity across stores.
- Security Operations Coordination
- Be the first point of contact for our stores regarding day-to-day security matter.
- Coordinate communication between stores, the Risk & Compliance Manager, and our third-party security partner.
- Support internal and external investigations relating to security matters.
- Support the implementation of security-related procedures across Planet Organic stores and coordinate with third-party security personnel.
- Identify opportunities to improve security operations, reduce risk, and enhance store safety.
- Provide support to ensure store security issues are managed appropriately throughout the process, through to resolution.
- Review adherence to internal security procedures and take appropriate action to address gaps, including reporting findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate and consistent security-related administration, including incident reports, the in-house security personnel cost tracker, CCTV records, emergency services reports, and communications.
- Manage the store security rota in collaboration with the third-party security personnel coordinator, ensuring alignment with budget and store requirements.
- Use business systems, laptops, and office tools to manage daily administrative responsibilities.
- Training & Security Awareness
- Deliver security updates and guidance to in-house security personnel and the third-party security coordinator.
- Support the delivery of group training sessions relating to the Security department in collaboration with the Risk & Compliance Manager.
- Encourage consistent application of security procedures and standards across the business.
- Collaboration
- Build strong working relationships with store colleagues, management teams, and external security partners.
- Work closely with the Risk & Compliance Manager and other stakeholders to support improvements within the Security department and operational priorities.
- Contribute ideas and solutions that enhance security effectiveness across the business.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Valid SIA License.
- Proven experience as a Store Detective, ideally across multi-site retail or similar security environments.
- Strong understanding of theft prevention, loss prevention, incident reporting, and security procedures.
- Experience reviewing CCTV footage and using security-related technology.
- Experience managing security reports, rotas, trackers, and operational information.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to balance store-based Store Detective responsibilities with Security Operations Coordination.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, build trust, and collaborate at all levels.
- Proven experience working with third-party security partners and guards.
- Proven people management experience, including team leadership, addressing underperformance, and coaching.
- Proven experience in recruitment, onboarding, training, and team development.
- Passion for the organic and sustainable retail sector.
