Role overview 📝 We're looking for a sharp, business-savvy Staff Data Analyst to drive business outcomes through impactful analytics within our Driver Squad. Our ideal future colleague cares deeply about creating business impact, translating business context and complex analytics into actionable insights and collaborating fluidly across teams Product, Tech, Data as well as Operations and Finance stakeholders.

That’s why we empower our growing team of engineers, data and product folks by embedding them in domain-centered, cross-functional squads for meaningful business context. They take initiative for impactful projects from day one. We hone our craft and grow our skills as data professionals through functional reporting lines and regular catch-ups and knowledge sharing sessions across the Data and wider “HIVEDmind” organisation (= Tech + Data + Product + AI&Automations).

Day-to-day activities: In your day-to-day you will come up with innovative solutions to business problems and identify new (product) opportunities using data analytics. You will define meaningful KPIs and metrics and capture them in data models and reports. Being embedded in the Driver Squad, you will work closely with your team mates across Tech and Product to deliver performance and efficiency insights and inform the squad’s roadmap. You will also collaborate deeply with stakeholders beyond your squad to find efficiency gains and opportunities in our data and processes.

How you create impact: The Driver Squad’s mission is to create the industry’s leading delivery operation, identifying and incentivising the best delivery performance across both cost efficiency and delivery quality. You will be leading the squad’s work across Driver Pay, Driver Performance and Incentivisation analytics, identifying opportunities for technological innovation all the way through to internal performance and process improvements.

Line management: While this role is focussed mostly on individual contributions, you will also take line management responsibility for 1-2 Analytics (Engineering) professionals within your team. This role reports directly into the VP Data.

Responsibilities 📋 Uncover business and product opportunities through robust analytics in a highly complex domain, translating technical insights with clarity for any audience. Shape data-driven decision-making across your squad and the wider operation; develop actionable performance metrics that move the needle. Size and measure the impact of ongoing initiatives and innovations. Build powerful data models and products that deliver actionable insights to your teammates. Line-manage 1-2 Analytics (Engineering) professionals: empower them through clear feedback, meaningful coaching, and leading by example. Raise the bar: role-model analytical rigour and smart pragmatism to shape analytics excellence across the company.

Your profile 👤 5+ years of experience in a similar analytics, analytics engineering, business intelligence or data science role. Experience line managing or mentoring other data professionals. A passion for clean, efficient and meaningful SQL queries and Python notebooks. Previous experience using modern BI tools (we use Looker + LookML). AI-savvy to scale yourself and your impact. Deeply outcome-focussed with an analytical mind and the necessary pragmatism to balance rigour with speed. A high-energy and bold communicator who enjoys collaborating across teams from different functions.

Data transformation and data quality: dbt, pandas/ polars, data-diff, Elementary. Core data platform: Dagster, dlt and Airbyte, BigQuery, Lakehouse for Iceberg. Infrastructure: Cloud Run, Cloud Storage, GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine), Terraform.
