Desktop Support Specialist / Junior Site Reliability Engineer

Central London (Hybrid, 1 to 2 days per week onsite)

Up to £60,000 + Equity + Benefits

An established finance firm are looking for a Desktop Support Specialist / Junior Site Reliability Engineer to join its internal infrastructure team. The majority of your role will be desktop support with a view to grow into an SRE. A great chance to learn from experts.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in endpoint engineering, systems administration or workplace technology who wants to broaden their experience across automation, infrastructure and reliability engineering.

MUST HAVE SKILLS:

You must show a willingness to learn these technologies in your own time. Homelabs etc.

The Role

You will play a key role in supporting and maintaining the company's internal technology environment, ensuring engineers have reliable, secure and well-managed systems to work from.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provisioning and supporting macOS, Linux and Windows devices
  • Managing endpoint deployments and lifecycle processes
  • Supporting developer workstations and internal IT infrastructure
  • Automating manual tasks using scripting and configuration management tools
  • Troubleshooting hardware, operating systems and networking issues
  • Contributing to infrastructure improvements and operational reliability

Skills & Experience

  • Linux, macOS and Windows administration
  • Endpoint management tools such as Ansible ideally or Jamf / Intune
  • Scripting using Bash, Python or PowerShell
  • Device provisioning, rebuilds and endpoint lifecycle management
  • Networking fundamentals including DNS, DHCP and TCP/IP
  • A proactive approach to automation and continuous improvement
