Qualifications

  • Strategic, relational and operational skills to lead change effectively are required, including:
  • HR leadership – align local site HR plans with wider strategies.
  • Cultural transformation & change management – diagnose culture, shift behaviours and lead through resistance.
  • Union relations expertise – deep knowledge of collective consultation, negotiations and employment law.
  • Stakeholder influencing – challenge and coach leaders balancing commercial outcomes with people impact.
  • Leadership presence & credibility – strong personal impact, resilience, integrity and visible shop‑floor presence.
  • Coaching and capability building – develop frontline and middle management capability in people leadership, performance management and employee engagement.
  • Commercial and operational acumen – understand manufacturing operations, productivity, safety and cost pressures.
  • Conflict management and negotiation – de‑escalate issues, resolve conflicts and negotiate outcomes supporting workforce stability.
  • Data‑driven decision making – use people metrics, insights and trends to inform decisions and measure progress.

Key Deliverables

  • Own the site HR agenda and ensure alignment with site and regional strategy.
  • Partner with the Site Lead to develop future‑facing change plans, including organisation design, workforce planning, and manage impacts, risks and mitigation.
  • Define and manage people cost base: headcount costs, agency spend, overtime, training budgets.
  • Define and own flexible resource strategy for agency and overtime spend and productivity.
  • Own talent and succession processes, identify talent and development opportunities, work with Talent CoE to build action plans.
  • Own and lead absence management processes.
  • Manage informal performance management and advise line managers.
  • Lead the people and culture transformation agenda in partnership with relevant HR CoE’s.
  • Work with senior leaders and L&D CoE to identify needs and implement solutions for leadership and skills capability development.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship and development support to site leadership on people matters and change management.
  • Serve as critical thought partner to site leaders.
  • Own and improve employee engagement, lead annual engagement survey and action planning.
  • Drive People KPI performance and action planning.
  • Own the industrial relations agenda: build relationships with trade unions, manage grievances, collective agreements, and negotiations.
  • Lead on senior hires for the site leadership team.
  • Ensure BAU People Cycle completion.
  • Create offer proposals for site banded roles for reward approval.
  • Develop local recognition platforms with Reward CoE alignment.
  • Maintain close links with other UK&I HR Business Partners for HR practice consistency.
  • Develop local site‑driven CSR agenda and execute central CSR agenda.
  • Develop site‑driven Inclusion & Diversity and Employee Value Proposition plans.
  • Execute centrally driven Health & Wellbeing plans and support the Mental Health Ambassador network.
  • Act as a vital link to other HR functions and Centres of Excellence: Reward, Talent Acquisition, L&D, Talent, Employee Relations, Occupational Health & Wellbeing, HR Shared Services.
