The role holder will act as lead clinician for the site, undertaking primarily case management and providing Occupational Health support and guidance to assist in managing absence. As a function, we operate a centralised service complemented by onsite clinical presence and as such, you will have the ongoing support of the wider team including an OHN and a physio onsite, and the full OH team of senior clinical leads, physiotherapists and our administrator. We are a friendly and welcoming inhouse team who provide a high quality service based on SEQOHS standards.
This is a real opportunity to help to shape the OH service at the Carlisle site and to become the face of OH to this location. As this role is inhouse, daily life can vary and is based on site need. The role holder will report directly to the Clinical Performance and Development Manager and will work closely with the wider Occupational Health Team, HR colleagues, the Compliance Team / Health & Safety team, site leadership and line managers to lead a comprehensive occupational health service across the Carlisle site. This includes compliance to Health & Safety legislation and business agreed service level agreements (SLAs) for all occupational health service delivery.
Please note: This role is on a 30 hour part-time basis, across 4 days.
What will be your key deliverables?
- Provide a comprehensive case management provision for the Carlisle site and as required across the UK & I region (remotely). You will proactively support the wider Occupational Health agenda such as policy driven rehabilitation and return to work programs. Our focus is on quality not quantity with a maximum of 5-6 cases per day.
- Ensure excellent communication strategies are employed to deliver appropriate & timely reporting to managers and all relevant functions/key partners.
- Maintain occupational health records via the OHS software system.
- Attend site meetings as required, supporting the Carlisle site to achieve their overall business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with OH Service standards, policies, and procedures.
- Key contributor to the development and delivery of the UK&I occupational health agenda to drive activation.
- Actively contribute to the continual development of the OH service provision.
You may also be asked to cover the following in the event of the OHN’s leave:
- Health surveillance activities – primarily audiometry, spirometry, skin assessments.
- Fitness for work medicals – primarily Working at Height and Forklift Truck driving.
- Conduct drug testing for new starters in line with company policy.
- Undertake pre-placement health assessments for all new starters.
Bring your experience.
- A qualified nurse with an additional qualification in Occupational Health and able to practice in the UK. Those with strong experience but no formal qualification will also be considered.
- At least 3 years’ experience in OH.
- Team player with strong desire for success.
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to use own initiative.
- Must be honest & discrete with a flexible approach and work style.
- PC literate – Microsoft Office 365 and aligned IT systems.
- Strong case management experience ideally in a manufacturing environment.
- Clear knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation.
- Fully conversant with NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant guidance and data protection legislation.
