Role Title: Manufacturing Team Member – Waste Operator

Salary: £23,492.04 with a monthly shift allowance of £381.75

Working Hours: Monday – Friday double days 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm.

Location: Canal Street, South Wigston, LE18 4PQ

What will this role achieve?

We are looking for a Manufacturing Team Member – Waste Operator which is a permanent position in Zone 4 (Site) working double days. Your main responsibility is to work as part of a team in the Process area to produce product to a specification using existing recipes to ensure all Health and Safety processes are followed in line with site Health and Safety policy.

The role requires a proactive individual with a ‘can do’ attitude who is committed to maintaining high standards in the factory whilst working as part of a dynamic team.

What will be your key deliverables?

  • Collect site production process waste by Zone, Line and Product.

  • Record all zonal line waste for the site gross loss efficiencies.

  • Record site waste for third party sales and they are packed and identified for shipping. (R3 waste sales)

  • Operate the site waste compactor and lease with the compactor waste supplier for anu mechanical and service issues.

  • Communicate any potential waste issues that may impact production or efficiencies with zonal Team Managers.

  • Understanding of product specifications

  • Understand equipment and machinery set up

  • Ensure any re-work procedures are followed

  • Ensure all documentation is filled in correctly and to the right standard

  • Always maintain everyday factory standards safely

  • Shift handovers are completed in area and to agreed agenda

  • Train peers and new operatives in equipment use and procedures when required

  • Undertake basic problem diagnosis and maintenance

  • Report any problems to the Team Manager/ ATM

Essential

  • Have a good awareness of Health and Safety requirement including Personal Protective Equipment. (PPE)

  • Special awareness in line with operating Powered Pallet Truck. (PPT)

  • Will demonstrate a willingness to work in a team environment and possess a positive attitude to change.

  • Be able to multi-task and have the drive and tenacity to work under your own initiative

  • We’re looking for people who are open to working flexibly and feel comfortable adapting to a fast-moving environment—with support available to help you succeed.

  • Maintain high standards of Hygiene and Housekeeping within the zones and that waste bins meet the Good Manufacturing Standards.

Desirable

  • Previous experience is desirable but not essential, training will be given.

  • Have an understanding of good manufacturing practices, HACCP and safety at work procedures.

  • Understand zonal Key Performance Indicators (production targets, waste levels and line performance)

What does the recruitment process consist of?

Assessments – Swift Comprehensive Aptitude and a Workplace English assessment. These should take around 60 minutes to complete.

Interview – 45-60 minute competency-based interview based on our company values and your experience.
