Job Summary: Engineering Technician – Maintenance Team (Day shift). Site: Harlesden.

Responsibilities include mechanical proactive maintenance, condition-based maintenance (CBM) and supporting production operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical engineering support to the production function under the Area Engineering Manager.
  • Carry out assigned engineering tasks and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Perform mechanical proactive maintenance and condition-based maintenance.
  • Respond to breakdowns, fault finding and improvement projects.
  • Occasionally cover other technicians across shifts.
  • Lead autonomous maintenance: train, mentor and support ATMs, apprentices and other team members.
  • Review maintenance plans and recommend improvements on reliability, task lists, frequencies of PMs and equipment obsolescence.
  • Complete store requisitions for parts and contract services via SAP or equivalent systems.
  • Monitor plant conditions, report defects and supervise external contractors (PTW, RAMS, compliance and safety checks).
  • Deliver consistent plant reliability – manage downtime, PPM conformance, engineering planning and use of SAP PM.
  • Carry out safety checks on equipment in line with legislation and standard methodology.
  • Apply sustainability, waste minimisation and energy consumption where appropriate.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Formal engineering qualification at least City & Guilds level, NVQ level 3 or equivalent mechanical and/or electrical subject.
  • Practical experience in FMCG manufacturing environment (open to other sectors).
  • Experience with generic engineering equipment and ability to understand manufacturing processes, engineering drawings, symbols and notation.
  • Mechanical and electrical comprehension, fault‑finding, data analysis, contractor management and technical report writing.
  • Knowledge of COSHH, PC skills and familiarity with safe working practices and relevant legislation.
  • Strong problem‑solving techniques, accuracy, attention to detail and dexterity.
  • Excellent teamwork and independent working capability with a confident communication style.
