Placr Recruitment is currently recruiting for an IT Field & Helpdesk Engineer on behalf of our client, a well-established and growing IT support business based in West Sussex. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and customer-focused IT Engineer to join a busy support team working with a wide variety of SME clients across the Southeast. The role will be based from the company's Lancing office, however regular travel to client sites will form part of the role. No two days will be the same, with a mix of helpdesk support, onsite support, installations and project work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing 1st and 2nd line IT support to end users
  • Supporting clients both remotely and onsite
  • Installing and configuring desktops, laptops and associated IT hardware
  • Supporting Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 environments
  • Assisting with Windows Server support and administration
  • Managing and updating support tickets accurately
  • Diagnosing faults and troubleshooting technical issues
  • Supporting firewall, router, DNS and networking configurations
  • Working closely with the wider helpdesk and field engineering team
  • Delivering excellent customer service both in person and over the phone

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience within an IT support or MSP environment
  • Strong 1st and 2nd line support experience
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365
  • Basic networking knowledge including routers, DNS and firewall configurations
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and work under pressure
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Good attention to detail and ticket documentation
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable Experience

  • Previous MSP experience
  • Exposure to Windows Server environments
  • Experience with Datto, Kaseya, IT Glue or Autotask
  • Knowledge of security products such as Trend or BitDefender
  • Microsoft certifications or willingness to train further
