Location: Lower Dicker, UK

JOB PURPOSE/PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

The main purpose of this role will be: Inspection & Verification.

You need to build a good relationship with the Vendor/suppliers by communicating effectively and accurately any quality issues. Raising NCRs as required, communicating your findings and gaining a quick resolution from the Vendor. You will be required to investigate through root cause analysis relating to the non-conformances. Ensure all corrective actions have been actioned. You will be the appointed person to communicate quality concerns from the shopfloor Supplier/Vendor. You will champion continuous improvement across all suppliers to bring in a right first time approach. Ensure the correct AQL inspection plans and quality groups are applied against the Vendor/Supplier, based on their historical performance, new supplier, and criticality of product. Manage the switching on and off (Red Flag) process linked to our ERP System. Review the supplier performance with purchased product and support Supplier audits when required and KPIs. Updating information as required on the company's ERP system, relating to inspection requirements.

Required

  • Some knowledge of Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIRs) and First Article Inspection Report (F.A.I.R).
  • Inspect sub-assemblies against drawings, using a variety of metrology equipment, including the use of Faro Arm and CMM equipment.
  • Have some experience managing Supplier Quality.
  • Working with very tight tolerances, have a good understanding of geometric tolerancing, datum points relating to complex components.
  • This role involves travel to client sites. While most work will be carried out from your usual base, you may be required to attend client meetings, site visits, or events as part of your duties. Travel will be planned in advance wherever possible, and all reasonable expenses will be covered.

Documentation & Reporting Experience

  • Recording any deviations, non-conformances from drawing specifications.
  • Working with ISO 2859-1:1999 sampling procedure for inspection by attributes.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience working to ISO 9001:2015.
  • At least 3 years' experience working in a machine shop or similar manufacturing engineering environment and possess a good understanding of Quality and Process management tools including methodology. Examples SPC, AQL.
  • Experience of using CMM or Faro Arm devices and proficient with a range of metrology equipment typically used in machine shop environments.
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Experienced working with Vendors/Supplier relating to complex issues.
  • Communicating Supplier KPIs.

DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Knowledge or experience of welding and fabrication processes would be beneficial.
  • Previous experience of working in the vacuum industry would be advantageous.

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified to Degree/HNC/HND level in a Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing discipline.
