Placr Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of an established and growing independent surveying practice seeking an experienced Residential Surveyor to join its professional team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Residential Surveyor, Home Surveyor or Building Surveyor looking for genuine autonomy, highly flexible working and a more varied workload.
The core of the position will involve completing RICS Level 2 Home Surveys and Level 3 Building Surveys across residential properties in East Sussex. You will inspect houses and flats, identify building defects and produce clear, accurate and client-friendly reports. You will diagnose issues including damp, structural movement, roofing defects, timber problems and general deterioration of the building fabric, providing clients with practical recommendations for repairs and remedial work.
Depending on your experience and interests, the role may also include preparing specifications and schedules of work, undertaking contract administration, managing residential refurbishment and alteration projects, completing schedules of condition and supporting Party Wall matters. There may also be opportunities to undertake residential valuations, reinstatement cost assessments and Principal Designer or CDM responsibilities where you have the appropriate experience or qualifications.
About you
- Practical experience carrying out residential property surveys, including RICS Level 2 and/or Level 3 surveys
- Strong knowledge of residential construction and common building defects
- Confidence inspecting properties and diagnosing defects independently
- Excellent written reporting, client communication and organisational skills
- A full UK driving licence and the ability to manage your own diary and workload
Qualifications
MRICS status is not essential. Applications are welcomed from MRICS and AssocRICS surveyors, SAVA-qualified surveyors, RPSA members, Building Surveying graduates with strong practical experience and experienced Residential or Building Surveyors working towards professional accreditation.
Additional experience
Experience in Party Wall surveying, contract administration, schedules of work, residential refurbishment, project management, Principal Designer duties, CDM, residential valuations or insurance reinstatement cost assessments would be advantageous but is not essential.
Package and benefits
- Negotiable salary depending on experience
- Uncapped discretionary bonus
- Highly flexible hybrid and remote working
- Five weeks’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays
- Ongoing professional development, training and genuine career progression
Why apply?
This is not a role where you will simply be expected to complete survey after survey. It offers the opportunity to combine residential surveying and defect diagnosis with contract administration, project work and Party Wall matters, depending on your existing experience and the areas you would like to develop. The client is open-minded regarding professional status. You do not need to be Chartered if you have strong residential surveying experience, sound technical knowledge and the ability to provide a high-quality service to clients.
If you are an experienced Residential Surveyor, Home Surveyor or Building Surveyor looking for greater flexibility, autonomy and variety, we would be keen to hear from you. Apply through Placr Recruitment for a confidential discussion.
