Mechanical Assembly Technician – Cleanroom Hailsham Placr's client is looking for an experienced Mechanical Assembly Technician to join their specialist manufacturing team in East Sussex. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a precision engineering, mechanical assembly or advanced manufacturing background who enjoys hands-on, technically challenging work rather than repetitive, high-volume production. You'll be working from detailed engineering drawings and specifications, carrying out precision fitting, assembly, wiring and testing while maintaining the highest standards of quality and cleanliness. Key responsibilities include: * Precision mechanical assembly and hand fitting of complex components. * Assembly of mechanical and electrical sub-assemblies. * Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications. * Specialist wiring and electrical testing. * Working to strict cleanroom and UHV standards. * Inspecting completed work and maintaining accurate quality and test records. * Supporting new product introduction and improvements to manufacturing documentation. * Working closely with Engineering, Production and Quality teams to resolve technical issues. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone with a strong practical engineering background, ideally from a precision engineering, mechanical assembly, machining, aerospace, scientific or advanced manufacturing environment. You'll ideally have: * Solid hands-on mechanical assembly and precision fitting experience. * Experience working with precision-engineered or low-volume/bespoke products. * Ability to read and work from engineering drawings and technical specifications. * Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail. * Experience with wiring, electrical testing or electromechanical assembly would be advantageous. * A methodical approach and commitment to quality. A Level 3 engineering qualification, apprenticeship, HNC/HND or equivalent practical experience would be welcomed. Previous UHV or cleanroom experience is advantageous but not essential – strong precision engineering and mechanical assembly experience will be considered. Why Join?
