Accounts Semi-Senior / Assistant Manager

Our client is a fast-growing and highly regarded accountancy firm supporting thousands of businesses and individuals across Sussex. They are looking for an Accounts Semi-Senior or Assistant Manager to join their friendly and established Bexhill team.
The level of the appointment will depend on your experience, making this a fantastic opportunity for either a developing accountant or someone ready to take on greater responsibility.
What You'll Be Doing
Reporting to the Senior Manager, you will:
- Prepare accounts and tax returns for sole traders and limited companies
- Support a varied portfolio of small and medium-sized businesses
- Liaise directly with clients and resolve queries
- Manage client records, appointments and administrative tasks
- Complete bookkeeping and support financial reporting
- Manage invoices, track expenses and prepare reports
- Collect, organise and analyse practice data
- Coordinate with colleagues, other departments and external providers
- Help ensure clients receive an accurate, efficient and professional service
What We're Looking For
- At least three years' relevant experience within an accountancy practice
- Ideally AAT Level 3 or above, ACCA or ICAEW qualified or part-qualified
- Experience preparing accounts and tax returns
- Strong knowledge of QuickBooks and Xero
- IRIS experience would be an advantage
- Confident Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- The confidence to liaise directly with clients
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- A professional and discreet approach to client information
- The ability to identify and resolve issues effectively
Hours and Location
This role is based in Bexhill and is primarily office-based to support the wider team.
Standard hours are 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday, from 8:30am to 5:00pm. Alternative working patterns may also be considered.
Following successful completion of probation, up to two days of home working per week may be available, pro rata for part-time contracts.
